Eight years after Armstrong’s Corporate Headquarters Building 701 was completed as a green building, Armstrong engaged Re:Vision to undertake a series of additional design and operational improvements to fully optimize the building, obtain an Energy Star rating, and secure a LEED-Platinum rating under the Existing Buildings v2.0 program. The project’s outstanding ROI (33%) was attributable to major improvements in water use reduction and corrective repairs to building systems. Showcasing Armstrong’s product line, the project also received an innovation credit for acoustics. In 2014, Re:Vision recertified the project under LEED Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance v2009. Among the additional strategies employed to earn another Platinum certification were: sub-metering of the building energy using systems, implementing ongoing commissioning, and upgrades to their site, purchasing, and green cleaning policies.
