When Re:Vision co-founded the the Philadelphia Living Building Challenge Collaborative in 2014 we asked ourselves – what do we really want to do as a volunteer organization? Driven by our goals to teach and learn as well as impact our community we chose to realize an ambitious idea of demonstrating that LBC projects are achievable here in our region.
The inaugural LBC demonstration project was an LBC feasibility study and conceptual building and site design for two buildings for Pendle Hill, a local Quaker retreat campus with global reach. Pendle Hill is a 23 acre Quaker retreat outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 23 acres set among a beautiful arboretum comprise the only Quaker retreat in the world. It is a special place, rich with culture, art, and deep spiritual connection to nature and place.
The Demonstration Project team, led by Re:Vision Architecture, was composed of more than 150 individual volunteers from over organizations donating over 3,000 volunteer hours. You can read the full report HERE.
