When Marywood University created new School of Architecture, they knew their 33,000sf academic space had to embody the sustainable design thinking they were teaching. Best practices like a green roof, rainwater harvesting, and local materials allow students to see first-hand the benefits of this LEED NC Gold certified building. Solar PV panels on the roof reduce energy bills by 20%. And the old facility is not forgotten – floorboards from the basketball court were repurposed into a functional and ornamental staircase, now a popular meeting spot for impromptu meetings.
