Vertical Screen’s LEED-Platinum 50,000 sf headquarters is a high tech head-turner that embodies the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of CEO Tony D’Orazio. As noted by Tony, “LEED Platinum certification was an ambitious goal for Vertical Screen [a family of applicant screening companies serving the financial sector, healthcare community, and general business sector]. But, I was strongly committed to the goal as a way to reap benefits for our company for many years to come in terms of energy savings, providing a better environment for our employees, enhancing our company’s reputation in the marketplace and helping make green buildings more mainstream.” This commitment is evidenced in the creative architecture and supporting environmental features and systems which were modeled to cut energy use by 50% and water use by 84.5% over a conventional building.  Technologies include:  Geothermal wells, under-floor air distribution system, high-tech building automation system, vegetated walls to purify the indoor air, restored meadow on a former brownfield field, rainwater harvesting for toilet flushing and irrigation, and a 164 kW Solyndra solar photovoltaic system.
