Assemblies like the wall section are fundamental to how we construct our buildings. Selecting materials has most commonly been driven by performance, cost and aesthetics. In the current transformation in the industry towards environmental and health conscious building practice, the emerging focus for material analysis is on lifecycle assessment, toxicity, and moisture transport as well as others. This is pushing designers, engineers, and contractors to think more holistically about project selection. This session looks at tools and methodologies for evaluating wall section products against these new environmental and health criteria.
This report and the research conducted for it has been presented at numerous conferences including the AIA National Convention.
