Passive House Verification – What to Expect When You’re Expecting

This presentation focuses on the technical requirements of PHIUS verification for both single family and multifamily dwellings.  While some requirements, such as blower door testing, are generally well-understood by Passive House designers, others are more opaque.  While it is the job of the Verifier, not the Designer, to perform all required tests and inspections, Designers can benefit from an understanding of which specific parts of their design will ultimately be tested.  These testing and verification requirements are both explicit in the PHIUS standards and implicit in several third-party programs that are required by PHIUS.  By gaining a basic understanding of these requirements and additional certifications, Designers can position their projects for a higher degree of success within the Passive House system.
